History
Maranatha is an institution committed to the principles on which it was founded—the truth of God’s Word and an adherence to Baptist distinctives that set it apart from other Christian colleges and universities.
Education
A key to understanding Maranatha is its ministry mindset. Integrated and robust systems prepare leaders (from all walks of life) to serve in the local church and the world. Regardless of major, students are challenged to use their education, gifts, and talents to serve God and others with their lives. The Bible Core is part of the General Education component for students in all programs whether on campus or online. Every class is taught from a biblical worldview. Christian service, voluntarily undertaken, is an integral part of campus life with over 90 percent of students regularly participating in some kind of local church service.
Research
The Cedarholm Library is a great place to conduct research. Search Holmes below to find materials. You can also look at some of the other helpful resources that we have compiled for your research.
Career
MBU employees exhibit a servant's heart as they help prepare the next generation of Christian leaders. Maranatha is looking for faculty and staff members who are both spiritually mature and professionally competent. A life of Christian service pays eternal benefits. Maranatha was ranked among southeast Wisconsin's top workplaces by its own employees in a Milwaukee Journal Sentinel survey.
Housing services
Living in a Maranatha dorm means gaining another family. With over 500 students living in Maranatha’s ten residence halls, there is no shortage of friends to be made, and dorm life is often an unforgettable aspect of a college career. Lasting friendships are made in the dorms, and group devotions three nights out of the week encourage spiritual growth. Maranatha has ten residence halls, each with a unique design and personality. Each of Maranatha’s dorm is equipped with a printer than can be accessed online. Each dorm also contains laundry facilities that students can use with a debit or credit card.
Library services
The Library uses EBSCO (A.K.A. HOLMES) to search for information at the library. HOLMES gives you access to material physically available in the library in addition to other resources. Search HOLMES to the right or browse the sections below for more information on the Cedarholm Library.
Campus life
Every year, students from all over the country visit the MBU campus to see it first-hand. Visiting your top colleges is an important part of your decision process, and we want to make that process easier. Alyssa Saunders recently visited MBU, and it solidified her decision to enroll this fall. Keep reading to hear about her experience.
Sports facilities
Built in 1968 with the floor refurbished in 2014, the main gymnasium hosts Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball, and Volleyball. You can find the MBU Crazies "Getting loud, getting CRAZIE" in the southwest corner of the gymnasium.
Intramural competitions inject enthusiasm into campus life. The five men’s and five women’s societies divide into teams for competition in soccer, dodgeball, volleyball, and basketball. The fierce competition culminates in a women’s Powderpuff Football tournament each spring, where teams battle for gridiron supremacy.
Student clubs
Student leadership among the student body is essential to the atmosphere of Maranatha and the spiritual growth of its students. Student leadership is comprised of Residence Assistant (RAs), Assistant Residence Assistants (ARAs), Room Leaders (RLs), Class, Society, Student Body Officers, and Team Captains.
Maranatha is accredited under the Academic Quality Improvement Program (AQIP) of the Higher Learning Commission.
