History
IADT as we now know it came into being in 2012, when three existing Schools were amalgamated to become two Faculties: the Faculty of Enterprise + Humanities, and the Faculty of Film, Art + Creative Technologies. However, our unique story is deeply rooted in the area and dates back well over fifty years!
Education
From full-time undergraduate and postgraduate programmes to accredited part time courses, IADT has earned the reputation as Ireland’s leading creative cultural and technological institute by consistently providing innovative, practical and relevant courses.
Research
Cutting-edge research significantly enhances the creative and entrepreneurial environment at IADT. We work with diverse stakeholders and collaborators in the public and private sectors, at local, national and global level. IADT engages in scholarly, applied and practice-based research.
Career
- The IADT Careers Centre is here to help and support students and graduates in their career planning and research. As Careers Officer I am always happy to meet with students individually or in class groups.
- You can make an appointment to discuss your career plans, to have a vocational assessment done, or to look for specific information relating to your discipline or area of interest.
Library services
IADT Library offers a wide range of seamless, high-quality integrated information services. We are committed to supporting students, researchers and staff on their journey of learning, teaching and discovery. Drop by and see what we have to offer.
Medical services
A comprehensive medical and nursing service is open to all full-time registered students. A Doctor is available on a part-time basis and a Nurse is available 5 days per week during the academic year. The service is envisaged as an addition to the student's own family doctor or specialist medical service.

awesome
Creative and Supportive Environment: IADT fostered a unique atmosphere that encouraged creativity, individuality, and open thinking. Small Class Sizes: The smaller student-to-teacher ratio meant more personalized feedback and closer collaboration with lecturers and peers. Hands-On Learning: There was a strong emphasis on practical, project-based work which helped translate theory into real-world skills. Collaborative Culture: Opportunities to work across disciplines (e.g., film, design, tech) made the experience diverse and dynamic. Campus Community: The community spirit on campus was welcoming and inclusive, which made it easier to connect with others.
Applied Psychology in Dun Laoghaire IADT
First of all I really enjoyed being able to actively do experiments and do my own research using the facilities in IADT. There was an opportunity to spend a week in Estonia and study legal psychology which was enjoyable and IADT also hosted a short week for Estonian and German students where we got to organise activities. Although the course is enjoyable the college or course could improve by improving their communication level and possibly making the course more intense and full. I think a stronger level of strictness would also needed to be added. Overall the course is quite enjoyable with the odd module that may not be quite interesting but most modules are quite engaging and interesting. The coursework is not too intense at all and is quite handy for people who have a job. Modules are assessed by continuous assessments like literature reviews, academic posters, presentations, and in class tests.
Advanced applied psych with tech
At times, the organisation of my course could have been better, particularly with lecturer attendance and timetable issues. However, the Applied Psychology course is quite advanced compared to other colleges, offering a unique mix of psychology and design fields like UX and HCI. The facilities are good, especially in terms of technology, and the library is excellent.
