Founded in 1933 as Florida’s first public community college, Palm Beach State has grown from three classrooms and 41 local students to five campuses and 48,757 students from more than 161 countries. One of the top producers of associate degree graduates in the U.S., PBSC also offers baccalaureate degrees, professional certificates, career training, and corporate and continuing education.

The Office of Institutional Research & Effectiveness (IRE) forms a vital part of Palm Beach State College's accountability and planning efforts at the District-wide level. Serving under Academic Affairs, IRE acts as Palm Beach State's institutional research and strategic planning office. The Office's responsibilities reach across many areas of the College.
Research and Data Services
Institutional Research & Effectiveness has primary responsibility for the preparation of delivery of internal data reports. Panorama, the College's annual student enrollment report, is produced in IRE, and it is available to all faculty and staff upon request.
With a choice of more than 130 programs of study, Palm Beach State is also the county’s leading educator of skilled professionals. Career program options span fields such as health care, computer science, business, biotechnology, creative arts and communications, child care, human services, teacher education, environmental science, landscape management, a wide variety of skilled trades, engineering, industrial technology and public safety. Students may choose to earn either a certificate or Associate in Science degree, preparing them for a competitive job market or the next level of their education.

Students, faculty and staff from Palm Beach State at Boca Raton have library privileges at both Florida Atlantic University (Boca Raton) and Palm Beach State College's libraries.
Palm Beach State College participates in intercollegiate men's baseball, men and women’s basketball, and women's softball and volleyball. Scholarships are available in all sports for those student athletes who have demonstrated a high level of proficiency in their sport and academic achievement.
Palm Beach State College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award the associate and baccalaureate degrees.
Accreditation also has been granted by professional organizations for certain specific programs.
