History

The University has roots going back more than 100 years.  In 1899, Kingston Technical Institute opens, offering courses ranging from Chemistry, Electric Wiring and Building Construction to Nursing, Dressmaking and Clay Modelling.

Housing services

All full time postgraduate students are eligible to book a room in Kingston University's halls of residence. Furthermore, for all new full-time first year international postgraduate students we guarantee an offer of accommodation. Booking information will be available from March 2018; once you firmly accept your offer you will be sent an email with further instructions. Please note that we work with a number of approved private providers to ensure alternative accommodation is available, in the unlikely event that our own halls are fully occupied.

Library services

Members of the public and visitors who are not in higher education are welcome to make use of the library service on a reference-only basis for free.

As a reference only visitor, you can access print resources, for example, books, journals and use study spaces in the library abiding by the library policies, agreements and regulations.

ICT services

Most rooms in Kingston University's halls of residence provide between two to four wired network ports and unrestricted wireless connection (maximum five devices) to our Kingston University halls of residence network.

Medical services

The University Health Centre offers a wide range of services, including sexual health clinics, sports injuries clinics, health advice and vaccinations. You can also access free counselling and stress management workshops. Complementary therapies on offer include: aromatherapy, osteopathy, reflexology, sports massage.

Campus life

  • Our landscaped, hillside campus is about three miles (4.8km) from Kingston town centre and very close to Richmond Park.
  • Surrounded by wooded areas and lawns, this campus has a real community feel. Kingston Hill has everything you'll need on campus including a bar, food store, restaurant, Subway and Starbucks. In between lectures you can enjoy its lovely green spaces, including a biodiversity pond and an outdoor fitness trail.

Sports facilities

  • The University's Fitness Centre has a fully equipped gym, plus an aerobics and dance studio.
  • Tolworth Court sports ground has rugby, football and cricket pitches, plus tennis and netball courts for outdoor games.
  • Regional, national and international competitors receive extra support through the Sports Performance Programme.

Student clubs

  • There are more than 90 student clubs and societies for you to choose from at Kingston University. You can connect with your community, country, faith or political group. You can join up with others in your subject for both educational and entertaining events.
