History

The study of law at Columbia University dates back to its founding in 1754 as King’s College in Lower Manhattan. As one of the oldest institutions of higher education in the U.S., Columbia has shaped the laws and judicial systems of the country since its inception.

Student services

Student Services offers academic and other counseling, works with student organizations and journals, plans programs and events, assists students with housing, coordinates health and wellness programs, and serves as a resource and sounding board for students as they navigate their way through the Law School.

Library services

The Arthur W. Diamond Law Library offers its researchers one of the finest collections of legal materials in the country in both digital and print formats.

Medical services

Columbia Law School offers full-time enrolled students in residency during the Fall and/or Spring semesters up to 60 hours of back-up care per academic year through Bright Horizons Family Solutions.

Campus life

The Law School is part of Columbia University's main campus, which occupies over 30 acres in Manhattan and is surrounded by Morningside, Riverside, and Central Parks. With a beautiful campus in the Morningside Heights neighborhood, the Law School offers both the intimacy and vitality of a college town while also being steps away from vast cultural, culinary and professional offerings. The Law School welcomes prospective applicants and other visitors during regular office hours Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
