Open University Malaysia About

As Malaysia’s premier open and distance learning institution, OUM has evolved from running academic programmes through a blended pedagogy – comprising face-to-face tutorials, e-learning, and self-managed learning – to our current approach that uses fully online learning.

History

In August 1999, the then Minister of Education invited Multimedia Technology Enhancement Operations Sdn Bhd (METEOR), a consortium of 11 public universities in the country, to set up an open university.

This led to the establishment of OUM in August 2000, followed by its launch on 26 August 2002 by the then Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Dato’ Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Best Online Lectures

I get the convenience of studying online at the Open University to deepen my management knowledge here while working at a fairly affordable cost. For me, the Open University is easy to understand in online activities, but there are still some shortcomings in it, including a tutor must be more approachable for students to be more active in learning. Studying here is very easy while working and really needs to be maximized for all groups who still love education. Despite many obstacles, including tuition fees to be more affordable to all groups and more supportive of equality in Indonesia and abroad

study anywhere, regardless of place and background

During my four semesters at Universitas Terbuka studying online from home, I have found it very helpful to pursue my education at a relatively affordable cost, with a learning process made easy by the facilities provided. This campus does not look at age or background; anyone can study and earn a bachelor's or master's degree here without having to come to the campus. Although it certainly is not easy because I have to rely on myself to find information and deepen my knowledge independently, that doesn't make me give up. People may underestimate this campus, but believe it or not, it all comes down to the individual. It is true that online college is not entirely pleasant, especially with the UT system where the course duration is only about two and a half months and the exam system still uses multiple-choice questions. Despite these shortcomings, UT still provides many benefits that can be gathered, from the smallest details to the most significant ones.

A Meaningful Academic Journey at LUC

My experience at Lincoln University College was meaningful and academically enriching. The lecturers were supportive, knowledgeable, and always willing to guide students when needed. I appreciated the multicultural environment, which allowed me to interact with people from different backgrounds and broaden my perspective. The courses were well-structured and included practical components such as practicum, which helped me gain real-world experience. Although administrative processes sometimes required patience, overall the university provided me with valuable knowledge, confidence, and skills that prepared me for my future career.
