Robert Gordon's mercantile adventures founded a strong and remarkably modern belief that his investment in the education of his townsfolk would equip them with the skills and knowledge to strengthen their success in Europe and further afield.

Today, more than 260 years after his death, the University which bears his name remains true to his spirit and enterprise.

RGU has world class researchers in allied health professions, computer science, engineering, architecture, accounting and finance, business and management, library and information management, and art and design.

This year more graduates found work than ever before, more of that work was professional level and unemployment rates were down to pre-recession level.

Library services

The Library tower, the striking green glass landmark at the heart of the new campus, opened at the end of May 2013.

There are 4 floors of books and journals in the library and each floor has a Faculty focus:

  • Level 8 - Design & Technology - art and architecture
  • Level 9 - Design & Technology - engineering and computing

Medical services

Disability and Dyslexia Centre - We have many years’ experience of supporting students with dyslexia, sensory and mobility impairments, mental health difficulties, medical conditions, autism spectrum disorders and temporary impairments, such as broken limbs.

Treehouse Early Care Centre - a purpose built facility that provides high quality care and education for children aged 3 months to 5 years.

Campus life

Robert Gordon University's 'Masterplan' is a £120 million campus development project at our Garthdee campus which provides all of our students and staff with state-of-the-art teaching and learning facilities.

This includes a brand new library, and formal and informal learning and social spaces for students. The first phase was open for business in September 2013 giving the university and our local community some of the best facilities in the UK.

Sports facilities

Robert Gordon University has invested over £11 million in a state-of-the-art sports facility, which sees a dramatic improvement in sporting infrastructure available for the region and also acts as a social hub for the Garthdee campus.
