The University grew out of the Sheffield Medical School (founded in 1828), Firth College (1879) and the Sheffield Technical School (1884). These three institutions came together in 1897 to form the University College of Sheffield, which in turn became the University of Sheffield in 1905.

The University of Sheffield offers a supportive learning environment, excellent teaching, and valuable opportunities for postgraduate students.
The educatin level at UofSheffield isn't as high as I expected it to be. While I am learning about a variety of public health topics, the program does not provide the opportunity to learn many concrete public health skills.
My overall study experience was positive and rewarding. Throughout the program, I developed valuable knowledge, practical skills, and greater confidence in my field. The courses were well structured, and many of the lecturers were knowledgeable, supportive, and encouraged critical thinking and active participation. What I liked most was the opportunity to apply what I learned through practical activities, projects, and field experiences. These experiences helped me connect theory with real-world practice and prepared me for my future career. I also appreciated the collaborative learning environment and the support provided by faculty members. One area that could be improved is increasing opportunities for hands-on learning, workshops, and industry or community partnerships. Providing more career guidance, internship opportunities, and faster administrative support would also enhance the student experience. Overall, I would summarise my study experience as enriching, challenging, and worthwhile. It has prepared me both academically and professionally, and I am grateful for the opportunities and support I received throughout my studies.
