  • Curiosity connects and drives us.
  • The concept of our learning communities has evolved into a valuable learning experience for all.

History

A school that trains students to become ‘Toerist Officier’ (Tourist Officer) – that was the idea of Mr Sliepen, director of the Breda Tourist Information Office, back in 1963. This school was to be a national scientific institute, consisting of a research department and a course programme.

Education

BUas offers professional and academic bachelor’s and master’s programmes and is an expert in closely interrelated fields: Tourism, Leisure & Events, Hotel & Facility, Logistics & Built Environment, Media & Creative Business, Games, and Data Science & AI. Our strength lies in the ability to connect these fields.

Research

At BUas, we foster a dynamic synergy between R&D, education, and society. We treat all three as equally important, mutually reinforcing, and interconnected functions that contribute to industry, students, academia, and society at large, helping to shape a better world.

Student services

Student Office can support you in a wide range of areas including application and admission, scholarships, incoming exchanges, housing (only for international students), visa applications for non-EU students, and practical information about your stay in the Netherlands.

Housing services

Unfortunately, Breda University of Applied Sciences has no campus or student rooms of its own and, therefore, it will be your own responsibility to find accommodation in Breda.

Library services

Our Library services are available for all students, staff and everyone else, who needs professional information. Most of the library services are free of charge.

ICT services

All students have access to the computing services or the organisation. Before arrival you wil get a personal user account in order to have access to all the IT Services. The IT Services include Computer Labs, wireless networks around the campus, Intranet, e-mail account, and the electronic learning environment called Cum Laude.

Medical services

You are legally required to have health insurance to cover any medical costs you may incur during your stay. We strongly advise you to take out a health insurance policy before you arrive.

Campus life

Our campus is a balanced mix of everything. It combines history with the latest technology. It is a place that inspires and energises, but also a place to relax. A community where you feel safe and comfortable, and where you meet people from all over the world.

Sports facilities

Discover the sporty side of Breda! Whether you like to run along the city's canals (singels), work up a sweat at the gym or enjoy an active day in the park, Breda has plenty to do for everyone.

Student clubs

BUas has several associations and clubs. They organise parties, excursions and other events. Fun to join, even more fun to help out.

Small scale international community

Throughout my studies at BUas I have felt super engaged in the international community. Everyone is super kind and open and even with teachers you get along and have chats on a very interpersonal level. The study itself also allows for personalisation of how you see your study track fitting. For example, you have the chance to choose a specialisation, a minor and multiple placements. The study facilities on campus are also great and the overall environment is really nice and stimulating to study with your peers. I could do nothing but recommend this study to anyone who is curious about different cultures and wants an amazing way to gain connections within your industry.

Studying the science of tourism

I love my studies at Breda University of Applied Sciences. The bachelor’s is a joint degree with Wageningen University so it’s the best of both worlds. It’s a unique experience to be able to follow university courses in a small but very international school. The building is so pretty and its very easy to connect with people from other studies. Our study has a practical side of teaching too! I have most loved our projects and visits to different cities and nature areas in the Netherlands.
