In the early days of operating Amazon.com we experienced first-hand how hard and expensive it was to provision and manage IT infrastructure, and how this distracted talented teams from actually innovating. That’s why we launched Amazon Web Services in the spring of 2006, to rethink IT infrastructure completely.

We are investing hundreds of millions of dollars to help 29 million people globally grow their technical skills with free cloud computing training by 2025. According to the World Economic Forum, half of all employees globally will need to reskill by 2025 as technology adoption increases. We want to help bridge this gap by giving everyone the opportunity to build in-demand skills. In addition, we’ve committed to training 2 million people for free on AI by 2025, through a new AWS-led generative AI Udacity scholarship, a new collaboration with the Amazon Future Engineer program, and Code.org to introduce generative AI to young learners, and eight free AWS-developed AI and generative AI courses.
