Practical learning and a supportive environment
I am currently studying International Business with Spanish at Sheffield Hallam University, and overall, my experience has been positive, particularly in terms of practical learning and career preparation. The course is well-structured and combines academic theory with real-world application, which has helped me develop skills for future employment. One of the strongest aspects of the university is its focus on employability. My course included a placement year, where I worked as a Junior Account Manager, and this experience was extremely valuable in building my confidence and professional skills. The university provides support in finding placements and encourages students to gain hands-on experience alongside their studies. The teaching quality is generally good, with lecturers who are approachable and supportive. There are also a variety of resources available, including workshops, career services, and academic support, which can be very helpful if you actively engage with them. In terms of student life, Sheffield is a great city for students. It is affordable compared to other UK cities and has a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. The university has a diverse student community, which makes it easy to meet people from different backgrounds. However, like many universities, the experience can vary depending on how much effort you put in. Some modules are more engaging than others, and independent study is important. If you are proactive and take advantage of the opportunities available, you can gain a lot from your time here. Overall, I would recommend Sheffield Hallam University to students who are looking for a practical, career-focused degree and a supportive learning environment in a student-friendly city.

wow, what a really laid back, friendly, and easy going uni this is. I love my time here. staff here are really helpful. socialising is great with on campus clubs and groups. nothing is too much trouble for anybody :)
Worthwhile
I really enjoyed my time at university, the course had modules I found intresting and have helped set me up in a role suitable since graduation. I would recommend anyone wanting to study food. I felt very supported by all the tutors and course mates.
