History

The Arqus European University Alliance was formally established in Brussels on 27 November 2018 when the rectors and presidents of our member institutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding in order to strengthen the cooperative links which already exist between and among us.

Education

Arqus Joint Master’s Programmes reinforce the commitment of the Alliance to student-centered and research-based learning through joint and flexible curricula. The design of the programmes has involved a common perspective of the Arqus universities on the curriculum and its implementation as well as on the evaluation and accreditation procedures and processes.

Research

The Arqus R&I project aimed to enhance the research and innovation dimension of the Alliance’s activities and to address current global societal challenges through intensified joint research, characterised by the pursuit of excellence, openness, transparency and effective engagement with society.

The Arqus Research & Innovation project fostered scientific cooperation within the Alliance, seeking synergies between the education, research and innovation dimensions of Arqus.

Career

Arqus provides career prospects for students and researchers through various programs, including joint master's degrees with specific career tracks like Cybersecurity, and opportunities beyond academia in sectors like industry, government, consulting, and non-profits. The alliance also offers resources like the PhD Career Week and Mentoring Programs to support career development both within and outside of academia.

Student services

The Arqus Student Agora which facilitates student co-designed projects and assemblies, and the Student Council, which represents students in the alliance's decision-making process.

Housing services

The European University Alliance, Arqus, does not directly manage accommodation, but its member universities provide resources and support for students and staff seeking accommodation during their mobility. As part of the alliance's goal of creating an integrated European inter-university campus, each partner university offers specific information and assistance for housing needs. To find accommodation, you should contact the Arqus team at the specific host university you will be visiting.

Library services

The "Arqus Library" is the library community of practice within the Arqus European University Alliance, a network of nine universities collaborating on research, education, and innovation. This group, referred to as "Libraries of the future," brings together library and academic staff from Arqus member institutions to discuss common challenges.

Sports facilities

The Arqus European University Alliance does not have a specific entity called "Arqus Sport Facilities," but it does include a Faculty of Sport Science at the University of Leipzig, which is one of the partner universities. This faculty contains various institutes and departments that deal with sports, such as Sport Nutrition, Exercise and Public Health, Kinesiology, and Sport Psychology. Through the alliance, students and staff can benefit from shared resources, joint programs, and mobility opportunities, which may include access to the sports-related facilities of the partner universities, though this is not explicitly detailed in the provided information.

Student clubs

Currently, you can access a wide range of mobility offers (studies, summer courses, internships, volunteering, etc.), both face-to-face and virtual. In the medium and long term, any student of the Alliance will be able to take advantage of open mobility programs leading to formal recognition of a European degree, both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees.

Also, you can be a member of the Arqus Student Council, whose aim is to encourage student participation in the decision-making process of the Alliance itself.
