History

Now home to over 19,500 students from over 140 countries, we first welcomed 800 students as Napier Technical College in 1964. The past five decades have seen us grow into a globally renowned institution, while retaining our focus on professional knowledge and personalised learning.

Education

Our unique and practical programmes are designed in collaboration with industry links and are taught by academics and professionals who are experts in their fields. This helps to provide you with the practical skills and insights crucial for securing graduate employment.

These strong links with the industry allow us to provide work-related learning for most of our students, from internships and work shadowing to live projects and experiences abroad. As a result of this, we have a 96.2% postgraduate graduate employment rate. (HESA 2017/18). Helping people get the careers they love is what we do and with such a range of diverse study areas available, we are confident there is something for everyone.

Research

Our inclusive policies, guidance and training offer strong support to our people at all stages of their career, and we actively encourage cooperation, mutual respect and a culture of wellbeing across the university.

Our research themes provide a framework for cross-university activity and interdisciplinary research. Through them, effective communities of staff and students are encouraged to work together on suitable collaborative funding proposals, as well as finding opportunities to enhance the curriculum. The university supports these themes with a central fund, enabling academics to devote time to interdisciplinary activity, and outcomes are promoted externally.

Career

The Career and Skills Development team offer a range of services such as one-to-one career guidance, a variety of professional development workshops and support with key recruitment skills, such as CV writing and perfecting your interview technique.

Our Placements team can support you with finding a relevant work placement to enhance your degree experience. They look after all stages of this process - from help with your initial applications, to ensuring you are fully prepared for your placement.

Nursing

The university is very well equipped and access to resources are easy to follow and use. The course I believe is the best course if you want to do nursing there is so much great support if you need anything but also rather than being stressed going straight into placements. this university allows you time to adjust to university life.

Social side

Edinburgh Napier has a great social side to the uni, I've met lots of people through the Uni and the campus is really relaxed. I've never had any issues with my classes or professors and everyone in the city is really welcoming to students.

A fun UK university experience

It was a fun time having a university experience in the UK. I would like to state that there are some administrative issues I faced, but other than that, it was fun. The campus libraries are huge & have a variety of books. Other than that, the other campuses were also convenient to go to but did not seem plausible as all of the business school resources were in the Craiglockhart Campus.
