History
The International Hellenic University (IHU) was established in October 2005 by Law No. 3391 and is based in Thessaloniki, Greece. The IHU is Greece’s first public university where programmes are taught exclusively in English.
Education
- 3 schools: Economics, Business Administration and Legal Studies, Humanities and Science & Technology.
- 24 postgraduate degrees.
- All teaching and student administration is in English.
Career
The Careers Office mission is to equip students with the skills they need to survive and thrive in an uncertain and demanding job market. During this semester, two new services were introduced which aim at increasing students’ employability: mock Assessment Centres & Practice on Psychometric Tests
Housing services
The various types of apartment are as follows:
- Studios and one-bedroom apartment
- Two bedroom apartment
- Three bedroom apartment (*with living-room, kitchen and bathroom)
Library services
The library mission is to provide high quality services to all members of the IHU academic community (students, researchers,teaching staff, administration staff, etc.) and to play a crucial role in supporting users to obtain specialised knowledge in their fields of interest. Books, journals, reference material, subscriptions to online databases and electronic journals form our library collection.
Medical services
All students of the International Hellenic University who are not covered by any other health insurance may receive treatment, including hospitalisation and medication.
Campus life
The University is situated on a 16,000m² campus outside Thessaloniki, specifically developed to facilitate modern learning methods.
The city of Thessaloniki, named after the sister of Alexander the Great, is the second largest in Greece and has an uninterrupted history of 2,300 years. It is also the city with the highest numbers of University students.
Famous for its lively streets, vibrant night life and cultural signature, Thessaloniki is also the perfect cosmopolitan destination for any visitor. Throughout time, the city has been a crossroads for five different cultures: the Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman and Jewish.
Sports facilities
A complete education combines cultivation of the mind and improvement of physical health. “A healthy mind in a healthy body”.Sports contribute to the development of social virtues, such as collaboration, solidarity, consistency and responsibility; they can play a positive role in the socialisation process and they are a key factor for mental and physical balance.
Student clubs
The International Hellenic University has organized, together with its students, a number of Social Clubs, which are free of charge for all IHU students & alumni! All the clubs meet once a week on the IHU premises!
As a Greek state University, all degrees awarded are accredited by the Government and are recognized in the European Union and internationally.
The International Hellenic University is a Diploma Supplement Label Holder for the period 2012-2015.
