History
MIB Trieste School of Management was founded in 1988 as a non-profit Consortium, created through the collaboration between the University of Trieste, public institutions and leading companies. Since its origins, MIB has combined academic quality, corporate connection and a clear focus on post-graduate management education.
Education
The School focuses on advanced management education for graduates, professionals and companies, combining academic quality with practical business relevance. Key areas include:
- MBA and Master’s programmes in international business, insurance and risk management, finance and business innovation
- Executive Education in management, leadership, agile management, wine business and specialised business topics
- Custom programmes designed with companies around their strategic and organisational needs.
Research
Research and knowledge-sharing activities focus on management, insurance, risk, innovation and sustainability.
Key initiatives include:
- Centre for Insurance Research “Ermanno Pitacco”, dedicated to insurance-actuarial research, personal risks, demographic trends, longevity and innovative coverage solutions.
- Agorai Innovation Hub, where the School is a founding partner, focused on advanced Data Science and human-centred Artificial Intelligence.
- PhD Programme in Circular Economy, developed with the University of Trieste, supporting research on sustainability, resource efficiency, consumer behaviour, public policies and risk assessment.
Career
Graduates can pursue careers in international business, general management, insurance and risk management, finance, consulting, marketing, operations, business development, innovation and project management.
Depending on their programme and profile, students and professionals may move into specialist, managerial or entrepreneurial roles, or use their MIB experience for upskilling, reskilling and career advancement.
The Career Service supports their development through career coaching, CV and interview preparation, company presentations, recruiting events and connections with the School’s corporate network.
Housing services
The School supports students in finding suitable accommodation in Trieste. The School provides guidance on different housing options, including student residences in the city, private apartments and rooms, depending on students’ needs, budget and length of stay.
Library services
A library is available to students as part of the learning facilities. It can be used as a quiet space for study, reading and consultation.
ICT services
Full Wi-Fi coverage and digital learning infrastructure are available to support both classroom learning and e-learning. Facilities include e-learning platforms, video streaming systems, simultaneous translation equipment and access to the GARR fiber-optic network.
Campus life
MIB Trieste School of Management is located in one main campus at Ferdinandeo Palace, one of Trieste’s historic buildings. Designed by Berlin architect Friedrich Hitzig and built in 1858 in honour of Emperor Ferdinand I of Habsburg, the Palace is surrounded by the greenery of the Farneto wood and close to the city centre.
The campus combines historic architecture with modern learning spaces, including classrooms, conference and multi-purpose halls, a library, study and meeting areas, common spaces, a coffee bar, a self-service restaurant and student support offices.
Trieste offers a safe, multicultural setting between Central Europe and the Mediterranean, with the sea, mountains and culture within easy reach.
Sports facilities
For those who want to work out more than their brains, Ferdinandeo Palace is located next to Parco del Farneto, a green area ideal for exercising or going for a run before or after class.
Student clubs
Student life is built around a close and international community. Students can take part in networking events, guest talks, social activities and initiatives connected to the Alumni Association and the wider MIB community.
After graduation, they join an international Alumni network of more than 4,000 graduates from over 100 countries, with opportunities to stay involved through events, chapters, elective courses and give-back initiatives.
Accreditation
The School is accredited by AMBA – Association of MBAs, EFMD Programme Accreditation System and ASFOR – Associazione Italiana per la Formazione Manageriale.
These recognitions certify the quality of its management education, programme design, faculty, internationalisation, career development and employability. AMBA accreditation is achieved by only a small percentage of business schools worldwide.

An enriching and unforgettable academic experience
My experience at the university was extremely positive. The classes were well-structured and taught by highly qualified professors who were truly committed to student learning. Beyond the academic content, I especially appreciated the supportive and inspiring environment that made me feel encouraged throughout the entire journey. I would definitely recommend this university, as it not only provided me with excellent professional training but also an incredible life experience that I will always cherish.
MIB Trieste - Executive MBA
First-class teaching staff. First-class training offer, both in terms of compulsory modules and optional, so-called elective courses. The location is exceptional, in Trieste, surrounded by greenery. On top of all this, the Master's Director and his team are a point of reference and an unfailing guide.
