History
Our role in educating business leaders stretches back over 100 years with the establishment of the UCD Faculty of Commerce in 1908. Today, UCD College of Business comprises UCD Lochlann Quinn School of Business, UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School, Smurfit Executive Development and UCD International Business Campus.

The Schools academics hold the highest qualifications from the worlds leading universities. This, with their business experience, help provide an environment of excellence in teaching and research where students study a wide range of subjects through a variety of teaching methods.
Career
To help students towards potential graduate employment, we offer a dedicated career service under the direction of trained and experienced recruitment specialists. Our Career Managers are available throughout the year for one-to-one consultations, to help you identify career opportunities and provide support to you with your career planning. The Career Development and Skills team welcomes many employers and guest speakers throughout the academic year and students will be kept informed of opportunities to meet with visiting speakers from corporate organisations and recent graduates.
Student services
At UCD Smurfit School we have a dedicated Student Adviser. The role of Student Adviser is primarily to look after the welfare and well-being of students.
Our student adviser, Nadia Clarkin, offers information, advice and support to students on a range of issues, from simple requests for information to helping students deal with more confidential and serious matters including motivation, anxiety, relationship issues, ill-health, financial issues, study techniques and adjusting to a new study environment.Housing services
Located on the main Belfield Campus, approximately two miles from Blackrock, the campus consists of four residences Glenomena, Roebuck, Merville and Belgrove. All residences have single bedrooms in either three, four or six bedroom apartments. Glenomena and Roebuck are ensuite while Merville and Belgrove have shared bathrooms.
Library services
The James Joyce Library is located on four levels of the Library Building on the Belfield Campus.
Collections available include those in the Arts and Human Sciences (including Law & Official Publications), Business (Undergraduate), Science, Agriculture and Engineering.Medical services
The Student Health Service provides on-campus medical, psychological and psychiatric care to registered university students.The service has been set up as an addition to the student's own family doctor or specialist medical services, operating within resource constraints so certain service limitations apply. Students should continue to attend their own General Practitioner.
Campus life
Our dedicated and intimate campus is located in the seaside town of Blackrock, 10km south of Dublin City Centre. Our unique campus exudes charm and character, and offers first-class facilities for our students to study, relax and socialise in the surroundings of a magnificent period estate. Our Blackrock campus, part of University College Dublin, hosts a vibrant community of students, faculty and staff.
Sports facilities
UCD Smurfit School students have full access to the sporting facilities at the UCD Belfield campus, which include a state-of-the-art gym, tennis courts, rugby and soccer pitches, indoor sports halls and an Olympic-size 50m swimming pool.
All UCD students can register for the UCD Get in Gear Get Active student exercise programme which takes place on the UCD Belfield campus.
There are a large range of exercise classes where students are provided with an opportunity to try out a variety of activities in a non-competitive environment and allow students to include exercise around a busy academic schedule.
Student clubs
An exciting feature of life at UCD Smurfit School is the range of clubs and societies that enable you to become actively involved in university life and to develop your interests and aptitudes. With a dedicated Smurfit Society and over 70 student clubs & societies at the nearby UCD Belfield campus, students can enjoy a wide range of social activities.The UCD Student Centre also has an 86-seater cinema, radio studio and a number of student services including the Student Health Service. Students at Smurfit are welcomed to get involved in clubs and societies as well as using all facilities at the Belfield campus available to them to enhance the student experience.
