The University of Southampton's long heritage in the city dates back to October 1862, when the Hartley Institution, from which the University evolved, opened the High Street below the Bargate. In 2012, they marked not only the 150th anniversary of the Hartley Institution, but also the 110th anniversary of the institution becoming a university college in 1902.

The University has a space for everyone, the campus gives the motivation to go in and you are surrounded around people who come from everywhere. There is a sense of community despite the mulitude of students in the area and there is always something to do
Insightful, creative and understand the broadness of the course throughout all modules covered up until my final year. Campus brings greater motivation to go to University with the sense of openness.
The way the modules are set up make it almost impossible to fail as long as you are able to spend at least 1 night studying every week. Staff are very friendly and the campus is quite nice, not that I spend a lot of time up there anymore as i mainly study remote. Lots of support available.
