Top reasons to study here

  • As England’s 14th-oldest university, we have a proud heritage of academic excellence, and a history of creating and inspiring life-changing research.
  • The vision is for the University of Hull to be recognised for academic excellence that empowers people to shape the future.
  • Hull is committed to providing students with top-class facilities and an ideal environment in which to live and learn.

The University of Hull was founded in 1927 – originally as University College Hull. The foundation stone was laid the following year by the Duke of York (later King George VI, of The King's Speech fame) and we opened for business with 39 students and 14 ‘one-man’ departments.

In November 2019 the University announced its ambition to become Carbon Neutral by 2027.

The University of Hull offers support and opportunities to help students reach their full potential and aims to create outstanding graduates to help solve critical, complex, global challenges.

Hull seeks to make a real difference to the next generation of learners with work placements in schools and other educational settings – including the chance to study or undertake a placement abroad.

It is possible to take a foundation year through ONCAMPUS to boost your skills and knowledge if you don't quite meet our academic entry requirements.
