The University of Hull was founded in 1927 – originally as University College Hull. The foundation stone was laid the following year by the Duke of York (later King George VI, of The King's Speech fame) and we opened for business with 39 students and 14 ‘one-man’ departments.
In November 2019 the University announced its ambition to become Carbon Neutral by 2027.

Hull has enhanced the sports facilities as part of a £300-million investment into the campus. The development included the Allam Sports Centre complete with an eight-court sports hall, 120-station fitness suite, floodlit pitch and pitchside changing rooms.
