History

In 1891 T. G. Masaryk introduces a motion at the Imperial Council in Vienna calling for the establishment of a second Czech university in Moravia. Twenty years later, he submits a petition to the Council in support of the founding of a university in Brno.

An act unanimously adopted on 28 January 1919 approves the establishment of the university in Brno along with its four founding faculties.

Career

We are Masaryk University's career services office. We connect students and employers.

We help students launch successful careers by providing personalized counselling, training seminars and workshops. These services are designed to facilitate job searches and enable students to overcome existing career issues and challenges.

We help employers hire qualified MU students and graduates. We provide recruitment services, help build company awareness, facilitate contact with students by organizing in person meetings and targeted advertising while also providing candidate pre-selection services.

Student services

You will have the opportunity to join many student clubs. Students form family-like communities around the theatre, international relations, investing, languages, radio, reading, and so on. You may also join the Student Chamber and participate in the university’s decision-making. Also, if you would like to meet more international students, the Erasmus Network club would be the perfect match for you. But of course, there are many, many more to choose from.

The construction of the Bohunice campus cost over five billion CZK and lasted almost six years. State-of-the-art laboratories now serve future doctors and biologists.

Housing services

University halls of residence provide students with accommodation throughout their studies. The MU Accommodation and Catering Services (SKM MU) are tasked with the administration of a total of 10 accommodation facilities, which provide facilities such as gyms and other sports facilities, computer rooms, TV and common rooms, table tennis halls and services such as internet access.

Library services

Library Information center (KIC MU) is specialized department with overall university competency established to co-ordinate development of library-information services at the Masaryk University.

ICT services

Individual computer rooms as well as the University Computer Centre are designed to provide students with the necessary technology for work and self study. They are available to all MU students and employees. MU computers are equipped with standard software solutions including office applications, dictionaries, email clients and browsers.

Campus life

Students are an integral part of the Brno community, bringing along many festivals, cultural events, city parades, and other events. With over 80,000 students in the city, one can easily get the impression that only young people live in Brno.
