With the advancement of technology, new forms of delivering education are constantly evolving, so that the process of acquiring knowledge, skills and competences, are no longer bounded by space and time, and university education is no longer limited to rigid pedagogical methods. Over the years, OUC has made every effort to ensure that it is even more open and accessible, flexible and adaptable to society’s needs, and multi-format in terms of educational methods and materials in order to respond to the diverse needs of its students.
Complementing the primary role of research as building-block for developing a knowledge-based economy where entrepreneurship springs from academic efforts, there are important reasons to foster academic research. Research is one of the most important functions of a university and one of the main pillars of the development of the Open University of Cyprus.

The overall mission of the Administrative Services of the Open University of Cyprus is to provide the infrastructure and continuous support for the teaching, research and social contributions of OUC. The aim of the Open University is to create an environment that attracts and retains highly qualified administrative personnel and provides the impetus for assuming responsibility and taking initiatives based on professional ethics.
The OUC Library that is located in the center of Nicosia, is modern, well-staff and well-equipped. It is a gateway to a comprehensive collection of books, journals, periodicals and other related publications from printed databases, while through the e-library; students have access to global electronic sources, such as international databases, e-Journals, e-books.
Student life in an Open University that provides distance teaching and learning is quite unique, since there are no face-to-face lectures and interactions between teachers and students. Nevertheless, OUC seeks to contribute to development of an active student body. In the near future, OUC will announce the launch of various student events and the establishment of Student Clubs, while it will actively pursue setting-up networking events that aim to keep the alumni involvement with the University alive and to encourage mutual associations among alumni abroad.
Cypriot state universities are accredited by Law. All bachelor and master programmes offered by the Open University of Cyprus are thus accredited by the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Cyprus.
