The Open University of Cyprus, established in 2002, is Cyprus's only public university dedicated exclusively to online and distance education, with all teaching and examinations conducted remotely. Its programmes are accredited by CYQAA, the national authority for quality assurance in higher education, spanning undergraduate, master's and doctoral studies.
Open University of Cyprus Distance Learning Courses
As the second public University, established in 2002, the Open University Cyprus (OUC) aims to fill an important gap in the Cypriot higher education system, offering accredited distance learning degrees at all levels (undergraduate, master and doctoral). Building on its origins as the country’s only University dedicated to distance education, OUC is growing quickly in academic stature and overall reputation.
Today’s challenging realities have widened OUC’s horizons, helping to bring Cyprus near towards its strategic goal: to be established as a regional educational and research center and hub for international scholars and students alike in the Eastern Mediterranean basin.

Complementing the primary role of research as building-block for developing a knowledge-based economy where entrepreneurship springs from academic efforts, there are important reasons to foster academic research.
Research is one of the most important functions of a university and one of the main pillars of the development of the Open University of Cyprus. The university’s research strategy emphasises the importance of both basic and applied research.

Housing services
OUC is a distance education institution therefore it does not have dormitories and cannot provide accommodation for incoming students in the context of placement mobility. However, the OUC Mobility Office (erasmus@ouc.ac.cy) can assist incoming students in finding suitable accommodation in Nicosia.
Library services
The Library is fully electronic regarding its use and hybrid regarding its content, since its collections include printed, digital and audiovisual material. All material is accessible through EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS), a federated search tool that provides easy access to printed, digital and audiovisual material, as well as to the full text of articles, through a simple search.

The Open MBA grants 3 exemptions (BT, MA, FA) from the examination subjects required to obtain the Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA) qualification. Available in English.
The BSc Business Administration undergraduate programme grants 5 exemptions (BT, MA, FA, LW, FM) from the examination subjects required to obtain the Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA) qualification. Available in Greek only.
The Master’s programme (ΜΑ) in Accounting and Finance grants 5 exemptions (BT, MA, FA, LW, FR) from the examination subjects required to obtain the Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA) qualification. Available in Greek only.
I really appreciate the flexibility that the Hellenic Open University of Cyprus offers, especially since I am studying Law through distance learning. In general, pretty satisfied
The programm itself was satisfactory. It covered a wide range of subjects and it was interesting from start to finish. My only complaint was the lack of practical lessons since most of them were theoretical in nature
