History

Founded in 1881, UoL is the original ‘redbrick’ university and a founding member of the Russell Group, associated with nine Nobel Prize winners. As a globally connected institution with a worldwide reputation they’re proud of their pioneering research, teaching excellence and international collaborations, including the hugely successful joint venture Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU).

ICT services

Across campus, there’s over 2,000 computers available, with high-speed Wi-Fi throughout the university. They offer free software, including Microsoft Office, SPSS, and Matlab, for installation on personal devices. Their specialist mobile apps give easy access to timetables, coursework, and academic resources on the go, keeping you connected wherever you are. 

Medical services

Brownlow Health is a general practice providing GP services to students on campus, including eConsultation to direct students to the correct service. The University also provides a Mental Health Advisory Service, Wellbeing Team and Counselling Service to support students experiencing mental health issues by providing the most effective help for their needs.

Campus life

As a city centre campus at the heart of the vibrant city of Liverpool this university has it all. Award-winning student accommodation and libraries, an amazing sports centre, shops and food venues. The Guild of Students where everything happens offers great food, spaces to chill out and relax like the Courtyard or the Sphinx bar, over 200 societies to join, and Mountford Hall, one of the biggest live music venues in the city. 

The University even has two museums on campus (the VGM and Garstang) and everything is only a short walk away. Liverpool is famous as the home of The Beatles, Liverpool FC and Everton FC, and the city also has a wealth of culture and many parks for students to explore. 

Sports facilities

Their excellent sports facilities include an on-campus Sport and Fitness Centre with a 25 metre swimming pool, sports halls, squash courts, dance and spinning studios, bouldering and climbing walls, gym, weight training area and organised group exercise classes to suit all levels of ability. 

There is also a gym and sports facilities at Greenbank Student Village and sports pitches and training facilities at Wyncote Sports Ground off campus. There's free activities on campus too with a running track, container gym and half basketball court.

Student clubs

Life at Liverpool isn’t just about academic success. They offer an exceptional student experience to match their teaching excellence. Access to their vast choice of extracurricular activities will help you to develop both personally and professionally. 

Their Guild of Students offers more than 200 student-led societies to get involved in and many volunteering opportunities. Mountford Hall in the Guild is one of the biggest live music venues in the city. Sport Liverpool offers activities to help you to relax and stay fit including 53 sports clubs, and a range of excellent sports and recreational facilities. Global Opportunities offers the chance to experience something new.
