The history of the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow dates back to 1912, when a group of outstanding engineers and mining activists, led by Jan Zara´nski, initiated the process of applying for a consent to establish a school of higher education that would educate mining engineers in Krakow.
AGH UST educates students at all types of courses: full-time, part-time, doctoral and postgraduate, offering a wide scope of education adapted to current trends on the labour market.
A wide scope of research conducted at the university is a result of the contemporary structure which has been shaped over the last 90 years; the development of the university units was connected with the dynamic development of the country’s economy. Invariably, AGH UST’s ambition has been getting ahead of the present time, a result of which are many innovative solutions in different areas. My experience at the University of Embu has been both enriching and transformative. The institution has provided me with a strong academic foundation in Biology while also equipping me with practical skills essential for professional growth. Through a combination of rigorous coursework, field-based learning, and supportive mentorship from lecturers, I have developed critical thinking, research, and problem-solving abilities. The learning environment encouraged curiosity, independence, and resilience, all of which have shaped my academic and career aspirations. Beyond academics, the university has played a key role in molding my discipline, work ethic, and adaptability—qualities that are crucial in both scientific research and real-world applications. My time at the University of Embu has prepared me not only to pursue advanced studies in Ecology but also to contribute meaningfully to environmental sustainability and conservation efforts.
