In addition to education and training, we provide diverse expertise for companies, public organisations and private individuals. The purpose of Kajaani University of Applied Sciences (KAMK) research, development and innovation activities is to develop customers’ products, services and processes and to conduct needs-based applied research. The activities of KAMK RDI are founded in robust specialist expertise, well-functioning partnerships and highly skilled expertise in project work.
RDI Services is in charge of RDI activities at KAMK. Approximately 60-70 development projects are implemented each year and they are mainly funded by the EU through various funding programmes. RDI activities form a quarter of Kajaani University of Applied Sciences’ turnover and employee work years.
The Study Office is the main information centre for all students. Each school has its own study office where students can sort out study-related matters. The Study Office also gives advice on planning and completing the studies.
Kajaani University of Applied Sciences library and information services are at everyone's disposal - both students and other inhabitants of Kainuu. You may borrow books and research study-related materials from the variety of databases we offer. We also offer guidance and advice on how to find the information you need to succeed in your assignments.
Degree students studying for a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a University of Applied Sciences will be entitled to use services of the Finnish Health Service (FSHS).
The FSHS responsibility is to provide students with health and medical care services. Students are required to pay a student healthcare fee to the Finnish Social Security Institution (Kela) for each academic semester.
The campus of Kajaani University of Applied Sciences is located in the Vimpelinlaakso, within walking distance from the services of Kajaani town centre.There are three cafés on campus, as well as the student restaurant foX. One of the cafés, Kaffé Tauko, is run by the Student Union KAMO and it also serves as a KAMO's service point. On campus there is a gym and sports facilities for students. KaMove provides high-quality low-threshold sports services for the students in the campus sports facilities and the surrounding area.
KaMove produces sports services accessible for all skill levels for students. Activities take place in the areas and sports locations of KAMK campus. The goal of KaMove is to enhance the wellbeing of KAMK students and to make possible for everyone to do sports throughout the studies.
The student union at Kajaani University of Applied Sciences, commonly referred to as KAMO, supports students and their life during their time at the university.
The quality assurance system of Kajaani University of Applied Sciences (KAMK) has passed the audit conducted by the Finnish Education Evaluation Centre (FINEEC) in 2021. The quality label is valid until 24 March 2027.
