Research, development and innovation (RDI) is one of the basic tasks of the university of applied sciences. Oulu UAS’s RDI work serves teaching and supports the development of Oulu UAS, Oulu Region and the whole Northern Finland by producing skilled workforce, supporting business operations and developing innovation activities.
Accommodation for the degree students cannot be arranged by Oulu University of Applied Sciences. Accommodation is available either on the private housing market or in the student halls of residence. Admitted students should directly contact the student accommodation organisations. Inexpensive self-catering student accommodation in single rooms is usually offered in the student halls of residence.
In order to come to Finland students are recommended to have a valid health and accident insurance that also covers them also during travel to and from Finland. Institutions of higher education do not cover accidents during a students stay in Finland, and without valid insurance the medical payments may be high.
Oulu is the biggest city in Northern Finland and Northern Scandinavia. Oulu’s population is one of the Europe’s youngest. Over the third of the residents are under 25 years of age. Oulu is known for it’s technology but also vivid and versatile cultural life. At the same time nature is close and easy to reach.
The Student Union of the Oulu University of Applied Sciences (OSAKO) is an organisation devoted to representing the interests of OUAS students and providing them with various services. In addition to looking after the interests of students, OSAKO organises various events and happenings aimed at students.
