Originally known as the Franco-British Guild, it was established in 1894 by Edith Williams, who came to the Sorbonne to train as a teacher of English. She succeeded in becoming the second-ever woman to receive the Agrégation d’anglais.

The University is housed within a 19th-century building, characterised by its limestone façade, spiralling staircase, and high ceilings.

As we are a small campus students locate external sports facilities. This is a brilliant way of immersing within the Parisian community and attending national level events.

ULIP is a small university in the heart of Paris. As a student of the International Politics (IP) programme , the course is fully in English. All modules are intertwined with each other allowing my understanding to be developed in different areas of the study and allows me to apply theoretical knowledge to real life situations. All the professors come from different backgrounds and have incredible experience and knowledge of the field. The schedule is quite free so it allows me as a student to have a part time job and support myself financially. The classes are quite small but that just brings the students and teachers closer, with more support available. The admin team along with the Students Union are very helpful and have the answer to any question you may have about living in Paris!
I really spent two wonderful years at the Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Lyon. It's a school on a human scale, neither too big nor too small. The professors offer high-quality teaching, and the support for students is very good. For each subject studied, we are taught open-mindedness and the art of debating both historical and contemporary issues.
