University of Brighton

History

The University of Brighton is steeped in history and since its humble beginnings 150 years ago, in the kitchens of the Royal Pavilion, a great many institutions have come together to make it one of today’s leading modern universities. We can trace our origins back to the mid-19th century in Brighton and the mid-20th century in Eastbourne.

Education

Our Education research generates knowledge that advances social justice and fosters critical understanding of learning and teaching in diverse cultures and complex worlds.

Research

We believe in making a difference. Our research and enterprise activities tackle global challenges, solve practical problems and seek to improve people’s lives and environments. We recognise that today’s challenges are not limited by the boundaries of traditional disciplines; neither are we. Fresh thinking, interdisciplinary research and collaborative partnerships with industry, institutions and communities enable us to bring expertise from different fields to address society’s most pressing issues to make a tangible impact.
