For almost 50 years, we've been looking into the future
La Trobe University is a multi-campus university in Victoria, Australia, with its main campus located about 16 kilometers north of Melbourne in Bundoora. We are the largest provider of higher education to Victoria's regions. Named after the first lieutenant governor of Victoria, Charles La Trobe, we take our motto, "Qui cherche trouve" (Whoever seeks shall find), from the La Trobe family motto. By providing a university experience that encourages bold inquisitiveness, innovative thinking and social engagement, we live up to the values of our namesake.
Since our opening in 1967, we have been committed to bringing high-quality higher education to persons who might not otherwise have such an opportunity. This is evident in one of our greatest points of pride: that a large percentage of our students and graduates are "first in family" — those who are first in their families to attend university. Our goal remains to continually enhance our intellectual, physical and financial resources so that future generations of scholars and students can continue the advancement of knowledge for the public good.
