Founded in Omaha in 1878 through a gift from Mary Lucretia Creighton in memory of her husband, Creighton grew from a small Jesuit school into a national university. Its Omaha campus remains its home, with a health sciences campus in Phoenix and regional programs elsewhere.
Creighton offers undergraduate, graduate and professional education across nine schools and colleges. Fields include arts and sciences, business, nursing, medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, occupational and physical therapy, and law. Students combine classroom learning with research, internships, clinical experiences and service in the Jesuit educational tradition.
Research spans health sciences, the humanities, business and other disciplines. Creighton is classified as a doctoral university with high research activity. Students can engage with faculty on research and apply learning in laboratories, clinics and community settings. University libraries support research through collections, specialist guidance and collaborative spaces.
Creighton’s Career Center offers career exploration and preparation, and many students complete internships or research projects. For the Class of 2025, 98% of undergraduate graduates with known outcomes were employed, pursuing advanced study or participating in service within six months; the knowledge rate was 68%. Students can use academic advising, the Student Success Center, Career Center, counseling and wellness services, and the Global Engagement Office. International Student and Scholar Services advises F and J visa holders on immigration matters and supports their transition to campus life. Housing, dining, public safety and financial service offices provide additional assistance.
Creighton offers residence halls and apartments on its Omaha campus. Full-time, unmarried undergraduates from outside the Omaha area generally live in University housing for their first two years, subject to approved exemptions. First-year halls include Success Hubs for academic support. Students can choose from meal plans and campus dining options; housing eligibility and availability vary by program and year.
Creighton University Libraries provide print and digital collections, research help, study spaces and technology. Reinert-Alumni Memorial Library serves the Omaha campus; specialized health sciences and law library services are also available. The Reinert library has a makerspace.
Campus Wi-Fi, library computers and online academic resources are available. Students can access Microsoft Office and seek help from the IT Service Desk. Library technology and equipment support study, research and creative projects. The student IT Service Desk provides technology assistance.
Student healthcare is available near the Omaha campus through the CHI Health Student Care Clinic, within walking distance and reachable by campus shuttle. A campus pharmacy provides prescriptions and other items. Student Counseling Services offers mental health support. Services and arrangements may differ by campus.
Creighton’s main campus is in Omaha, close to downtown, with classrooms, libraries, residence halls, dining, recreation, student services and health sciences facilities. The university also has a Phoenix health sciences campus and regional programs in Anchorage and Denver. The campus setting and available facilities depend on the student’s program and location.
The Omaha campus has the Kiewit Fitness Center and Rasmussen Center for recreation and wellness. Students can use fitness spaces and participate in intramural sports, group fitness and club sports. Athletics facilities include Morrison Stadium; facility access and activities vary by venue.
Creighton has more than 200 student clubs and organizations, including academic, cultural, faith, service, arts and recreational groups. Students can explore organizations and join through campus activities and student life events; club sports and multicultural student groups offer additional ways to connect.
