Wesleyan University

History

Wesleyan University was founded in 1831 by Methodist leaders and Middletown citizens. Instruction began with 48 students of varying ages, the president, three professors, and one tutor; tuition was $36 per year.

Education

Wesleyan University is dedicated to providing a bold, rigorous education in the liberal arts that values putting ideas into practice. With 45 majors, 29 minors, and 3 certificate programs to choose from, Wesleyan students get the flexibility to explore their many academic interests and passions, take chances, question the status quo, and flourish in an academic culture that prizes collaboration over competition.

Research

The Office of Institutional Research conducts research and analyses to support University planning and assist with the development of academic and administrative policies.

Career

The Gordon Career Center works with students of all class years to translate their liberal education into a lifetime of meaningful work.

The Center’s innovative approach to career education encourages students to design their own careers by exploring the intersection among their interests, the skills they have and wish to acquire, and market demand. The Gordon Career Center links students to alumni and employers across the globe in fields that reflect the impressive breadth of opportunities explored by Wesleyan graduates.
