LUT University (Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology LUT) is a public science university in Finland, bringing together the fields of science and business since 1969.
We offer 22 Master’s and 5 Bachelor’s programmes. In the Master's programmes, you can obtain the degree of either in Master of Science in Technology, M.Sc. (Tech.), or Master of Science in Economics and Business Administration, M.Sc. (Econ. & Bus. Admin.). In the Bachelor’s programmes, you can obtain a degree of Bachelor of Science in Technology, B.Sc. (Tech.). We offer one regular and four double-degree Bachelor’s programmes.
In our programmes, you can choose from the following disciplines: business administration, chemical engineering, computational engineering, electrical engineering, energy technology, environmental technology, industrial management, mechanical engineering and software engineering.
We create innovations and new knowledge through science. We use the latest results of scientific research in our courses, ensuring you receive the most up-to-date knowledge.
You will study in programmes that are developed in close cooperation with industry, ensuring your studies are relevant to the changing needs of your profession. During your studies, you will work on industry projects and create solutions to real-world problems.
LUT University’s green and modern campuses offer a compact combination of all of the services students need. Most student apartments are located within walking distance, and there are plenty of excellent sports and recreation venues.
Lappeenranta boasts ample housing for students. Rents are low compared to the national level, apartments come in all sizes, and furnished lodgings are available both near the campus and near or in the city centre. Student apartments offered by Lappeenranta Student Housing Foundation (LOAS).
Skinnarila Campus Library in Lappeenranta serves customers the same friendly way as before. If you study or work in Lahti, Mukkulankatu Industria library and Niemenkatu Scientia library are the places to find. You can still borrow items using your old library card.
When needed, new customers will get a library card for borrowing.
All foreign students must have adequate health/travel insurance while they are studying at LUT. Citizens of EU/EEA countries and the countries mentioned above only need to obtain the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) from the social security authorities in their home country or buy a private insurance.
Our international community consists of 6 500 members of more than 80 different nationalities. Our campuses are located in the cities of Lappeenranta and Lahti, Finland. Both cities share LUT’s vision of sustainability: Lappeenranta is a winner of the European Green Leaf Award and Lahti is a winner of European Green Capital Award, both for the year 2021.
Lappeenranta offers many possibilities to spend your free time. You should also check out the Higher Education Sports and Welfare Services - SaLUT. SaLUT offers a wide range of sports and welfare services and organizes a variety of demo classes and events. Activities are designed to promote students' health and to create cohesiveness between different training programs and higher education institutions.
Singing? Climbing? Hiking? Acting? Heavy metal music? Ultra-economical car design? Whatever your interests, the chances are that we will have the club you are looking for. Joining a club is an ideal way to get to know new people or discover a totally new hobby. LUT has around 30 clubs that are always more than ready to welcome international students.
We aim to be a forerunner in education by securing international quality labels for our degree programmes as a sign of excellence in the teaching. We continuously assess the quality of our education and research through international accreditations. Most of the Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes at LUT have gained international accreditations.
