College of Saint Rose

History

These words have described Saint Rose since 1920, when the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet — known for their dedication to unity with all people—founded the college. From the outset, while building on a liberal arts curriculum, the College emphasized the professional training of teachers for which it is renowned even today, along with a diverse offering of majors and programs.

Education

The College of Saint Rose community engages highly motivated undergraduate and graduate students in rigorous educational experiences. In the progressive tradition of the founding Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, we welcome students from all religious and cultural backgrounds.

Research

Undergraduates can do scholarly research. It happens all the time at Saint Rose. Our students propose their own projects, apply their coursework to topics that interest them, frame questions, test hypotheses, and even present their findings at academic conferences.

Meanwhile, Saint Rose gives these researchers many opportunities to excel. We support student travel to conferences to present research, award summer research grants to undergraduates, publish an annual Undergraduate Research Journal, and hold an all-College undergraduate research symposium each spring.

Career

The Career Center provides advisement, resources and programs to support undergraduates, graduate students, and alumni. We cultivate relationships with employers to develop a network of professional connections and to provide access to a wide range of opportunities and experiences. We develop collaborative partnerships with faculty and administrative departments to support our student and alumni career interests and goals.

Student services

The Student Solution Center is designed to answer students’ and parents’ questions involving the Bursar, Financial Aid and Registrar offices. Because these three student services are interrelated, the College has created a one-stop resource where students can address their needs and gain advice about all three aspects at once. Our office is also a good place to start when you don’t know where else to go with a question.

Housing services

Most residence halls include a common room, a kitchen, and laundry facilities. Rooms are furnished with standard twin beds, dressers, desks, chairs, closet or wardrobe, and basic cable. RAs develop a range of activities to help their residents bond with one another. First-year students start out in Brubacher Hall, Lima Hall, or RCC (Riley, Carondelet, and Cavanaugh Halls); transfer students will be housed with other upperclass students in residence halls on campus.

Library services

The Saint Rose bookstore is located on campus, in the lower level of the Events and Athletics Center (EAC). Supplies that can be found at the bookstore include:

  • Textbooks
  • School Supplies
  • Saint Rose T-Shirts
  • Clothing and Apparel
  • Books
  • Book Rentals and Buybacks
  • Course Packs
  • And Much More!

ICT services

ITS provides students with the technology resources you need to help you achieve your academic goals:

  • Computer labs (Mac and PC)
  • Access to campus-wide software (Google Apps, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Wireless Internet Access
  • Learning Management Software (Blackboard)
  • Access to research databases

Medical services

Physical and mental wellness plays a critical role in the success of students. The College of Saint Rose recognizes the importance of providing support, when needed, through our Counseling Services and Health Center.

Campus life

The data tell a compelling story: students who live on the Saint Rose campus do better academically, get more involved in activities, and stay connected long after graduation. That’s why we’ve provided such a wealth of options for housing—Victorian-style houses and furnished apartments, suites and townhouses, and traditional dorms as well.

Sports facilities

We are equipped to facilitate all facets of resistance and cardio training for the athlete as well as the exercise enthusiast. Our central location, in the Events and Athletics Center, is convenient for students, faculty and staff.

The College of Saint Rose Fitness Center has a No Card/ No Access, zero tolerance policy to insure that those who access our facility are entitled to do so.

Student clubs

As the student government on campus, “SA” expresses the voice of the student body to the faculty, administration, and trustees of Saint Rose. In that way, Association members help set policy on key campus issues and enhance the College’s future.SA also oversees more than 30 clubs and organizations at Saint Rose. Our general business meetings give every student the chance to share ideas and raise concerns.

The College of Saint Rose is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
