Touro University About

Touro students hail from all over the world, from all walks of life, in the pursuit of a common goal: To get the best possible education, to find a promising professional career, and to do so in an environment that respects and supports their backgrounds and beliefs.

History

In 1970, in the tradition established by the early Jewish-American leaders for whom it is named, Dr. Bernard Landerfounded Touro College to strengthen the Judaic tradition and serve the broader community with compassion and dignity. Chartered by the Board of Regents of the State of New York, the College welcomed its first 35 students in the Liberal Arts and Sciences in 1971.

Education

As a fundamental component of all academic programs, General Education is the foundation supporting student acquisition of skills in communication, analysis, mathematical reasoning, and synthesis. General Education provides students with transferrable skills that prepare them to gain knowledge, acquire new competencies, and broaden their perspectives so that they may better adapt to the needs of a changing society.

Research

With the oversight of the Office of the Provost for Biomedical Research, our faculty have uncovered the secret lives of prehistoric mollusks in Jordan, broken new ground on the use of Marijuana in the treatment of Parkinson's symptoms, and brought to light forgotten heroes of Nazi-occupied Europe. They present at conferences around the world and publish frequently.

A Global Perspective in the Heart of Berlin

I'm a second-year student in the Master's program in Business Administration at Touro University Berlin, and I have to say that it's been a life-changing experience. As an international student, I was looking for a university that would give me a global perspective, and Touro Berlin has definitely delivered. The university's campus is located in the heart of Berlin, which is an amazing city with so much history and culture. The campus itself is modern and well-equipped, with a really diverse and international student body. What I love most about Touro Berlin is its focus on global business and leadership. The professors are all experts in their fields, and they bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the classroom. The program is really hands-on, with a lot of case studies, group projects, and presentations. One of the things that sets Touro Berlin apart is its strong focus on ethics and social responsibility. As a business student, I think it's really important to consider the impact of our actions on society and the environment. Touro Berlin does a great job of incorporating these values into the curriculum. Touro Berlin also offers a lot of opportunities for networking and career development. The university has partnerships with a lot of major companies and organizations, which gives us access to internships, job opportunities, and mentorship programs. If I had to give one piece of advice to future students, it would be to take advantage of all the opportunities that Touro Berlin has to offer. From study abroad programs to career counseling, there are a lot of resources available to help you succeed. Overall, I'm so glad I chose Touro University Berlin. It's a university that truly embodies the values of global citizenship, ethics, and leadership.

Flexible, Supportive Path to Clinical Practice

As a graduate of Touro University Worldwides M.A. Marriage & Family Therapy program, I can say that my experience was both academically enriching and personally meaningful. The online structure offered the flexibility I needed while still providing rigorous coursework focused on clinical competency, ethics, and human development. Courses in ethics, psychophysiology, and couples therapy especially stood out since they connected research and real-world application in a way that deepened my understanding of the mind-body connection. I appreciated the accessibility of my professors. Even in an online environment, they were responsive, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in my success. The programs emphasis on culturally competent care, as well as preparation for licensure, helped me feel confident stepping into the field. While theres no traditional campus life due to the fully online design, the programs structured discussions and supervision opportunities still created a sense of professional community. Overall, TUW provided a solid graduate-level education for students who require flexibility but still want a high-quality academic experience in Marriage and Family Therapy.

Small classes

I attended the Landers College for Women division of Touro College and loved the all girls school environment. The small class sizes and personal attention from professors made a big difference and benefitted me in terms of getting the most out of my studies.
