History
Over 90 years ago, on March 19, 1925, at 1:30 p.m. in the headquarters of the American Baptist Publication Society on Chestnut Street in Philadelphia, six Baptist ministers founded what was then called the Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Because of its growing complexity and expansion into international venues, Eastern College was granted University status in December, 2001.
Education
- We are Christ-centered and holistic in all of our programs. We seek to fulfill our motto, “The whole Gospel for the whole world.”
- We are committed to high quality in all areas, whether academic, spiritual or service oriented. In particular, we look for creative ways to be effective in the classroom, embracing innovative methodology as an important adjunct to traditional pedagogy.
- We are student-centered — the primary focus of our work is the intellectual, spiritual and psychological development of students. We care about the whole person, seeking to provide a variety of student services, learning experiences and service opportunities that support emotional, spiritual, professional and physical development.
Career
The Center for Career Development engages Eastern University undergraduate and graduate students as they explore their God-given talents, discern career and educational goals, and seek internship and employment opportunities that will allow them to serve and thrive.
Student services
Eastern University's Student Development team works to enhance the growth and development of all students, both inside and outside the classroom.
Students who enter Eastern at different times in their lives have very different developmental needs, so Student Development provides support and services in order to meet those different needs appropriately. For traditional undergraduate students, the Student Development staff is concerned with every aspect of the student experience and aims to challenge and support students in this important time of intellectual, physical, interpersonal, and spiritual change and development.
