History

Over the years, our faculty has evolved with the world to ensure maximum efficiency and continuity of impact.Established in 1990, we were originally called the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology as the result of a merger between Monash University and the Chisholm Institute of Technology. Seven years later, we changed our name to the Faculty of Information Technology.

Campus life

  • Clayton campus

Clayton campus is the largest of the Monash campuses. It’s located on the corner of Wellington Road and Princes Highway, 20 km from Melbourne's city centre. It was established in 1958 and opened its doors to the first students in 1961.

  • Monash Malaysia

Established in 1998, Monash Malaysia was our first international campus. There are currently more than 4,500 students and 500 staff. About one quarter of the students are international. The campus is located in Bandar Sunway, about 18km from central Kuala Lumpur.

  • Indonesia campus

Monash University, Indonesia campus, is located in Bumi Serpong Damai (BSD) City in southwest Jakarta – part of a burgeoning, modern and sustainable city centre. 

Student clubs

Monash's IT clubs and societies, linked with the Monash Student Association and the Monash Graduate Association, are vital for our IT community. With a small annual fee, they provide diverse student-driven services and events. These groups, divided between undergraduates in the Monash Student Association and postgraduates in the Monash Graduate Association, enhance university life with dynamic experiences.
