The University of Divinity delivers education and research in theology, philosophy and spirituality and for over one hundred years has prepared its graduates for ministry, leadership and community service.

History

The University of Divinity is over a century old, having been established in 1910 as the Melbourne College of Divinity to provide Australian theology degrees and other qualifications that support the growth and vitality of Christian churches and their leadership.

Research

The University of Divinity has a long tradition of research excellence and produces world-class research in all theological disciplines. The School of Graduate Research (SGR) fosters a high-quality learning environment for higher degree by research (HDR) students and their supervisors from pre-admission information through to post-candidature guidance and networking.

The engaging research culture at the University of Divinity includes two higher degrees by research and a research methodology unit available to students, regular conferences, seminars and access to world-class visiting scholars.

Library services

The Libraries affiliated with the University of Divinity (UD) and its Colleges are critical to the University’s mission. Their combined collections, together with the online resources available via the University’s Library Hub, provide all members of the University community with access to an extensive range of resources that support excellence in learning, teaching and research.

Staff and students of the University use a number of systems in their learning, teaching and research:

  • ARK = the Learning Management System, used to support all units at the University
  • Library Hub = digital library resources including databases, journals and e-books
  • Paradigm = the Student Information Management System, providing access to enrolment data and results.
