Friedensau has been a place of education since 1899. On November 19, 1899, the institute that preceded the university, the “Industry and Mission School”, commenced operations with just seven pupils in very basic conditions. The school was housed in an old mill on the Ihle river, mentioned for the first time in 1306.
In the departments of Christian Social Sciences and Theology, students can choose between eight study programs under Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts – some of which can be studied part time.
Friedensau is an established place of scholarship and has research collaborations linking it with institutions in several continents.

Surrounded by magnificent meadows and extensive woodlands, the campus of the Friedensau Adventist University is set in the midst of an idyllic natural landscape. The meadows and woods encourage long walks and sporting activities.
Our campus has 26 double and 65 single rooms, located in different buildings and halls of residence. All the rooms are furnished, all have a telephone, and most have a hand basin. Communal showers and WCs are found on each floor. In the Erich Meyer House each room has its own shower and WC.
The library offers a varied collection of over 150,000 items spanning from scientific books and journals, music notes, hymn books, music and films, to entertainment literature, including books for children and youth. Access to electronic databases and journals complements our physical collection.
The IT department plans, manages, and maintains the infrastructure of electronic communication on campus.
The Friedensau campus differs from other university sites in many areas.
The campus is close to nature, and the facilities are within easy reach of one another, saving time and reducing stress. The proximity between students and teaching staff allows a space for mutual trust and a relaxed coexistence. Alongside the programmes of study there are numerous spiritual, cultural, artistic and sporting opportunities for an active extra-curricular life in Friedensau.
Sport gives more than just physical equilibrium. The university sports club offers numerous opportunities, from a football team to gymnastics. And personal initiative is welcome. Sports fields, volleyball and tennis courts, a small sports hall, a weight-training room and a sauna all encourage activity. For horse-lovers there are horses available for riding. There is also an extensive high ropes course in the local area.
The StuZ (Studenten-Zentrum) is the student centre in Friedensau. The facilities in the Erich Meyer House are comfortable and relaxing, encouraging talk and togetherness. During term the students meet twice a week at 8 pm, on Wednesdays and on the Sabbath, to socialize (referred to as ‘Stutzen’ from the abbreviation ‘STuZ’). A friendly team consisting of local students takes care of the visitors and guests.
Friedensau Adventist University is government accredited and accredited by the Adventist Accreditation Association (AAA).
