Apartments on offer in the TUM listings are only available to TUM students and employees. Inserting an ad is free for both landlords and prospective tenant.
Most of the student halls of residence are run by the Munich Student Union (Studentenwerk München). There are also halls run by social and private organizations. The university itself does not run any halls of residence.
Room, apartment, shared flat: Most TUM students and employees find their accommodation privately. Many have made friends for life by opting for a shared flat (known as a WG in German).

The Garching campus, unlike the downtown area, is set up more like a traditional quadrangle style campus with a large grouping of buildings. At the moment, university buildings are spread over four main and several minor locations.
The heart of the university is situated on the main campus in the state capital: this houses the university headquarters, most of the administrative offices and the faculties of Architecture, Structural Engineering & Surveying, Electrical Engineering & Information Technology and Economics. The Department of Sport Science is located at the Olympic stadium, the Department of Medicine is incorporated in the TUM's Clinic 'right of the Isar'.
90 sports and fitness activities: From aerobics to yoga, ZHS has it all. Keep fit classes, climbing and beach volleyball are especially popular. With 15,000 members, ZHS is the largest university sports community in Germany – bringing together students from every university in Munich.The Alps and Lake Starnberg: ZHS makes excellent use of Munich’s surrounding countryside. Windsurfers and sailors enjoy the windy conditions on Lake Starnberg. Plus of course the Bavarian Alps, within easy distance for climbers, hikers, skiers and snowboarders.Olympic facilities: ZHS is based at the TUM campus in Munich’s Olympic Park in the north of the city, which was built for the 1972 Games.
TUM was system-accredited by the Swiss Center of Accreditation and Quality Assurance in Higher Education (OAQ) on 14 May 2014, with no stipulations imposed. The decision reached by the OAQ's Accreditation Commission is valid through 30 September 2021, and applies to all degree programs that have passed TUM's internal QM assessment procedures.
