The Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment is involved in a wide variety of research activities relating to all aspects of architecture and the built environment.
We undertake research projects commissioned by the central and local government, government agencies, the private sector and charitable bodies, as well as overseas agencies.
We have a wide range of interests, from architecture and globalisation, to the Olympics and city tourism, to city management, transport and sustainability.
The Faculty supports five subject groups, which have developed an excellent track record in their chosen field.
The facilities include:
The new digital equipment enables design and fabrication processes including ABS and plaster 3D printing, CNC knife cutting, large-scale CNC routing, CNC metal milling and robot fabrication. The collection of robots uniquely includes an industrial robot arm running on a five-metre rail across a window visible from Marylebone Road.
Situated on the Marylebone Road, opposite Baker Street Tube station, the Faculty uses its central London location to great effect.
We have strong connections to all our professional bodies, and are able to engage leading practitioners in the delivery of our courses.
This means our undergraduate courses have developed strong links with the various professions and future employers, leading to excellent employment prospects for our students.
