History
BI Norwegian Business School is an entrepreneurial success story. First established as a night school by Finn Øien in 1943, in the midst of WWII, BI is now the leading business school in Norway and the second largest in Europe.
In 2023, we mark our 80th year of societal impact.
Education
BI has a strong connection to the business world. In fact, one in four Norwegian business leaders graduated from BI. That is more than any other school in Norway. So if you are planning a career in Norway, chances are high that someone who understands your education will interview you.
Research
Each researcher and student has an independent responsibility for conducting research activities within the current ethical framework.
BI as an institution is responsible for the organization of ethical research choices, i.e. the research ethical infrastructure.
BI sets the same requirements for research ethics and scientific methodology in the examination questions at the Executive level as in our other courses. Executive students often retrieve data from their own business and / or own use.
Career
97% of master's students are employed within 6 months of graduation. In fact, most have jobs before they graduate!
And for our bachelor's graduates, 87% are employed within 6 months of graduation. and again, the majority are employed before they graduate.
Check out our website. Each programme description includes information about job prospects and features alumni stories.
Housing services
BI Norwegian Business School guarantees housing for international students in student accommodation. And you keep that room for the entire length of your studies.
We work with local student accommodation providers. Our four partners, SiO, Diakonhjemmet, Anker, and BSN, offer affordable rooms in student housing units across the city of Oslo. And in Bergen, we work with SAMMEN.
Student housing is generally the most affordable accommodation you will find in Norway and also one of the best ways to meet new people. You can quickly build your social network and make new friends by living exactly where so many other students choose to live.
To be eligible for the housing guarantee, applicants must apply via BI by the deadline. Please see our website for other conditions and explore the options.
Library services
The library services available at BI Norwegian Business School include the main library in Oslo, the libraries at Bergen, Trondheim and Stavanger campuses, as well as the digital library, which is always open!
Medical services
All full-time students are covered by the national healthcare. For full-time international students, once you have a Norwegian ID, you are covered in Norway.
Exchange students will need to arrange healthcare from their home country.
EU residents have access to the same health services in Norway as in their home country.
At BI, our nurses can help answer any questions you have about physical or mental health - you can ask them anything.
Campus life
Natural light and open spaces give the BI campuses the sensation of a small village; a place where everybody can feel at home. However you prefer to study, there is a place for you.
In Oslo, the building is covered by a glass ceiling and comprises four blocks on seven levels. The open and transparent campus building exposes the activities in the building to the surrounding streets and public spaces. The open terraces, galleries, small nooks and quiet areas thave been created as special meeting places and to add life to the building.
Our modern campus in Bergen is located near industry clusters and boasts its own beach. Enjoy studying while gazing at the harbour right outside your classroom window.
Sports facilities
In Oslo, the Athletica Nydalen gym is located right in our campus building. This gym, operated by SiO, has a wide range of facilities and services, including personal train and group sessions.
Student clubs
BISO represents students at all our campuses. And there are many student associations ranging from professional associations to sports to social activities. The newly formed BIISA association represents international students at BI.
